A lovely picture of an Eurasian Bittern, hand drawn and embroidered on a calico background and framed in a wooden embroidery hoop. The name of the bird is added in embroidered thread text.
Each hoop (measuring 16cm diameter) has been finished off with a hessian surround and has a small rope for hanging your unique and individual piece of wall art.
This is one of a set of limited edition embroidery items, which are based on a poster produced in 2008 to highlight the level of threat of extinction of birds in Namibia. They represent my reinterpretation of the drawings of Christine Marais and I have attempted to recreate a true picture of each bird in thread. This is a lovely, hand embroidered item that makes an unusual gift, as well as a being a record of threatened bird species. For added interest and future record, I have stated the level of threat of each species on the back cardboard cover of the hoop.
